New/Self-Builds – Room in the loft/Loft conversions

Ecotite spray foam – Only insulation that does more than one job and lasts forever.

U Value is negated (Ineffective) without an air seal. Ecotite spray foam provides U value and an air seal.

Ecotite spray foam has the best insulation properties available on the market today and is the ultimate solution for reducing your energy bills.

Spray foam insulation is so cost effective it has the shortest payback time of 1 – 2 years compared to 10 years with solar panels and highest return over other renewable or energy saving building products, so if you want a loft insulation, you know what to choose.

Ecotite spray foam is applied rapidly to roofs & exposed areas, speeding up construction & reducing costs.

No project is complete until you have used Ecotite spray foam insulation.

Think twice, Insulate once.

When looking at the initial up front cost of installing spray foam insulation, it is appropriate to view it in the context of high performance building design. That means the performance and design of the building should be looked at based on a variety of interrelated factors. One of the important points to consider in creating a high-performance building envelope is the potential to reduce the size of the mechanical equipment needed to heat and cool that building. This essentially becomes a “cost transfer” approach whereby any additional cost of increasing the performance of the insulation is offset by a reduced cost in mechanical heating systems, speed of application & reduced labour costs. Over the life cycle of the building that cost savings is compounded to the benefit of the owner in reduced energy costs, reduced maintenance costs, and replacement cost savings at the end of the service life of the equipment.

One of the most important components in a quality constructed home is insulation. Don’t leave it too late. We have heard it so many times from people that have put lots of money into fantastic kitchens, bathrooms and heat source systems, sadly, not addressing the main issue of proper insulation & protection of the building envelope, ending up later down the road with structural & condensation problems. People must understand if you have the best insulation you are going to need very little or no mechanical heat/cooling source with no problems later.

We sometimes come across a conflict of interest with building contractors when they are not working on their own projects as they see themselves doing themselves out of work when the client wants to use a far superior insulator which is a far quicker process and less labour intense.

Your architect, builder or building inspector should no longer be apprehensive about you using our product as its registered with LABC, carries 3 BBA certificates and listed on the RIBA register. If it’s the first time they have come across the spray foam insulation, ask them to give us a call so we may better inform them of the latest building techniques.

Don’t forget you will be the one living in the house and you will be the one paying the bills and ultimately seeing the huge saving in your energy bills. We can guide you through the whole process from initial feasibility through to application, whether it takes 6 months or 3 years to completion and we are only a phone call away 24/7.

Most of our competitors we find are only happy with working on fast paying turnaround jobs, either can’t find the time or don’t have the knowledge or confidence to be able to give advice on new projects. If it is your first project where you are using the product you do need that guidance and knowledge so that it works with your designs & you know at what stage, it needs to be installed so there is no down time for other trades. We have recently just completed working on a project in Maida Vale, London which has taken roughly 3.5 years to go from design to completion. It gives us great pleasure in seeing the end results on projects we have been involved with. We offer a free U Value and condensation risk report service.

Think twice, Insulate once.

One of the most reoccurring problems people experience with having a habitual room in the loft space is the discomfort during extreme cold and warm weather conditions. Ecotite spray foams design enables it to prevent radiant heat transfer. So, when using Ecotite spray foam you get superior thermal insulation plus the added benefit of getting protection while experiencing extreme hot conditions.

As we are creating a seamless seal between you and the outside any condensation problems will be long gone as it would then be impossible to achieve a dew point.

As we are creating a warm roof when using Ecotite spray foam you are also getting the benefit of the extra valuable space created as no ventilation (air gap) is needed. Also in many instances radiators & heaters can be removed or made redundant allowing even more space.

If you don’t have to achieve a U value target, then only a thin layer of spray foam is needed.

The area that is being sprayed needs to be exposed prior to spraying so we can completely seal the whole area creating an airtight conditioned space leaving no cold spots.

We regularly experience people putting up with the discomfort during hot and cold conditions for many years before deciding to take the jump and do something about it. Don’t be put off by the upheaval you might think it will cause, with our years of experience we will work with you or your builder to minimise disruption. It can be sprayed directly on to the roofing felt, slate or tile (if suitable).

We offer a free U Value and condensation risk report service.

As you will see from the photos below all awkward roofs are taken care of easily & quickly speeding up construction. When using closed cell spray foam “cut back” once finished is very rare, if so only nominal, with very little waste compared to open cell spray foam. As a warm roof construction was being constructed there was no cold side ventilation needed giving extra valuable space. The customer also had the added advantage of being able to have the choice of leaving out any heat source in that area allowing for more space & reduced costs.

It’s not about introducing expensive heat source systems it’s all about choosing the best insulation! So, choose Ecotite, the  leading spray foam insulation contractors in the UK.

Wirral, Merseyside.

The house below situated on the wirral, Merseyside was undertaking a major house & loft conversion which more than doubled the original floor area.

The studs, joists and rafter faces were masked prior to spraying to prevent overspray and leave a clean finish. We applied a flash coating to the original brick work to seal the cracks preventing air and moisture intrusion, leaving a warm feel.

To meet building reg’s 110mm (roof) & 90mm (walls) of spray foam was applied. A very small amount of cut back of spray foam was needed to accommodate the plasterboard. It took approx. 6 hours to complete & clean down. We’ve exceeded passive housing with 100mm spray foam on previous projects.
The customer was advised that the radiators could be either down sized or excluded.
